Artist's Comments

*slaps forehead* I can't believe I haven't uploaded this yet! I sculpted this 4 years ago for my freshman 3D course. It's a fully functional tabletop fountain, based off of the opening credits to "The Last Unicorn" (which was based off of 'The Hunt of the Unicorn Tapestries - absolutely breathtaking works of art). This piece is about 14'' tall.

The miniature beige fountain, lion heads, unicorn, stag and "island" on which they rest are all made from sculpey and painted with acrylics. The plants are plastic, the bowl is metal and the grass is reptile moss. I have to say, despite this piece being horribly old, I am quite fond of it. Comments welcome!

damn how much i want it...
looks much bigger than 14 inches, but, anyways, that s freakin awsome.
does it have one of those mechanic/electrical devices that pump up the water just as in a real fountain? if it does, did you build that too or did you buy it?
and it s not old, it s aged, that s different =P
you really are an artist, and a skilled one!

Oh I LOVE fountains, and the unicorn tapestries are just neat. Did you paint inside the fountain to seal the water away from the sculpey, or does sculpey not have that problem? I imagine sculpey to be like bisque fired clay, but then again I haven't seen it cooked yet...

This is by far one of your most beautiful pieces...and certainly makes me long to see the last unicorn again i haven't seen in in ages. I definetly see the connection to the unicorn tapestries, very well done. i love the antlers. but as ssaid above you need some better photo's of it, it's a little blurry.

the unicorn looks a bit pissed...lol....Wow, this is great! I want one, too >.< The detail is lovely, I wish there were better quality photos too, it looks a bit blurred. **keeps staring** so pretty!

oh my god, that's beautiful! at some point (probably in a few years) i want to work in 3-d real media...
this is amazing though... great design... the color scheme is really true to the tapestry (it's true... it IS a beautiful work of art) ... and fully functional! that's what i think is the coolest :) things that move on their own impress me so much... maybe that's why i got into animation

Great work.

I like the life in the unicorn. He seems very active.
